A few weeks later...

A few weeks later...

I havent written for such a long time. Lots of things to do and lots of work; not to mention the heat in Athens! Almost unbearable at most times -at least when you are not by the beach with a greek Frappe coffee!)

Well, not much to mention. A weekend away in Cyprus to visit our best man and also get away from Athens for a while. We had a great time!

A week in Pelopponese Sparta, another in Litocho & Chalkidiki and also a gorgeous night in Souni staring at the stars!

It was so funny! Saturday night, Alex and I have decided to go to Sounio in the Temple of Posidon and enjoy a starry night! We parked our car in the parking lot -only it was empty,we were the only visitors - when we saw that a camera flashed! We turned around and noticed another car had taken a photo of our number plates! After a lil while 3 policemen came close to us. They didnt talk to us and then left. After a while a guy in a motorbike was having a long long ciggie nearby.

Due to fires in Greece in the summer I guess is only normal to be coscious!

Sounio is amazing at night! The energy is so incredible! You feel like you are in a magical place!

Anyhow, now its time for wedding preps again!

Medicine for my everyday frustrations!

View all problems as challenges.Look upon negativities that arise as opportunities to learn and to grow.Don't run from them, condemn yourself, or bury your burden in saintly silence. You have a problem? Great. More grist for the mill. Rejoice, dive in, and investigate.Bhante Henepola Gunaratana, "Mindfulness in Plain English"

Just a regular Thursday in Athens

Temperature is reaching high points! I woke up, had my breakfast and coffee and was on my way to the bus stop. I was waiting for about 15 minutes only to realize that Buses were on an hour strike this morning. I did not panick and decided to keep my calm so that I have a nice day. I walked down the street where the main street is and look for a cab. the time was 8.10am. Some taxis did not even bother stopping -they wre empty and flagged Available- some others made the effort to stop and ask where I am going but the did not like my destination and refused to drive me. Most of them were already with passengers and my destination was not convenient. 8.50am. I am still waiting for a taxi. Many fellow Athenians are passing by me ( in the queque) and managing to make their way to their desired destinations. Needless to say that no one apologised for taking my place in the queque without asking. I felt invisible and useless. I could have made an issue and have an argument but decided silence is gold! (trying to keep my calm).

Now, I do realize that many of you who live abroad will wonder why did not I take their taxi number plates and report them for chosing customers according to their liking. I thought of it too, then I realised I now live in Greece a country that evryone is complaing about the wrong things they are always doing and the government and police do not care about anything or anyone as long as they are ok.

Disgrace!Disgrace!Disgrace!

Thumps up to Modern Greece for being a living hell

Having lived in the UK for the last 7 years I was so looking forward to return to my homeland where the sun shines and the people are smiley and friendly and the quality of life is much better ( at least that was my idea of Greece at that time).Needless to say that having been back for only 3 months I have reached the point where I am embarassed to be Greek.

Where do I begin? The lack of respect in everyday life, the absolute chaos in any public or even private organisation, the delay in everything, the nightmare of having to get a taxi in Athens and generally the surprisingly amazing talent that Greeks have to make their lives so complicated and difficult?

I returned back to Greece, Athens, March the 3rd 2008 because I feel in love with my fiance and we decided to get married in September 2008. The first 2 weeks felt like holiday as I had only left my job in UK a day before and had to spent sometime with my fiance and my family. Then I decided that I would start seeking for a job, only to discover that Greeks hardly use Internet these days. There were very few online websites with job vacancies and even if you were brave enough to send an email no one would bother replying back to you.

Then I decided to join a recruiting agency. I went to a couple. One of them did not bother at all, instead they were using the excuse that they are looking into it. The other one I have to admit was really exceptional. They helped me a lot. They were calling me and sending me to jobs and they were generally very professional No complaints at all! However, a few of the interviews they have sent did not do that great -even if I have a very impressive CV especially for Greece)- reason being : I am getting married! Getting married apparently for Greek companies is a crime. It is a serious reason to disqualify you from any future processes. Another employer told me that I was overqualified and that it would be very difficult for me to get a job in Athens.

I did not give however, although they were times I was deeply frustrated and disappointed. I finally got a job in a multinational company ( the salary very disatisfactory as most in Greece). The company I am working is ok. However, the lack of organising is amazing. I will not take this further for obvious reasons.

My employer advised me to open a bank account in Alpha Bank ( Greek Bank) so that I get paid to this account. I visited an Alpha branch and approached a lady working there. She was carrying her coffee ( Frape-popular Greek coffee, especially in the summer). I explained to her that I would like to open an account with them. I showed her my ID and my Employment Contract. She shouted at me that there is no way to open a bank account as she needs an Electricity Bill, Water Bill and my taxation documentation in Greece. I told her I had just returned back to Greece and that I do not have the bill copies and obviously no taxation as yet as I was living abroad and that i needed the bank account so that my new employer would pay me. She said the "Then there is nothing I can do for you,you can return when you have the requested documents".

I called my father who lives in a city north of Greece and he managed to open an account for me in that city under my name without even me being there. He had obviously a copy of my ID. My father advised me to go to the branch near me so that I fill in the form and get my bank card here in Athens. I did so 2 weeks ago. Just returned from the bank and they still have not recieved it!!!!!!! 2 whole weeks!!!:( In the meantime I got paid and I am unable to cash my money without this card!

Chaos and lack of organisation and respect drives me crazy and makes me depressed!

Love message

If we want a love message to be heard,
it has got to be sent out.
To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it.

If you ever ask me who I am and what I like..... in a few words and many pictures...

I'm in intensive study of Shamanism and Budhism.
I am an absolute Spiritual Junkie!
Angels, Crystal healing, Numerology and
Astrology perk my interests.
I am interested in Reiki .
I'm strong, spirited and love the nature and the energy that comes from it...

Music/Dancing...life is a dance...
can you hear the beat??

Travelin'....just hittin' the road on a whim...

Holding hands, listening..just
to listen....,softness of skin,
the warmth of a hug, getting lost
in someone's eyes...
Individuality, Equality..

World's children
and how open to life
they are..., friends and deep conversations,
being a rebel just because....
feathers, stones, odd looking wood boxes,
animals...

Conversations with the nature

the smell of wet earth,
the feel of fresh water on my feet, the energies from trees that I embrace.

All kinds of stained glass, crystals, wood & metal...

Shooting Pool and bouncin'

the cue ball off the other table... gettin' lost
in the woods...
Making dream catchers,
rainy days,

Thunder storms
Walking at night while there's
a gentle snow fall...
Sunsets on the beach,
Full moons, scent of Sweet grass,
the Sun on my face, Sweat, hot showers,
the wind blowing in my hair,

the feel of rain and taking a walk when it's falling softly,

Ocean spray, Candles
Drumming a good beat
Scribbling aka Writing
Art
Soccer...
Life....and where it's takin' me...

Hug a tree today and feel the good energies flow through you...

The technique of using crystals and gemstones on the human body for healing is called laying on of stones. It is a powerful method of cleansing negative energy, clearing and balancing the chakras, effecting emotional release, and bringing light and healing into all the aura bodies. Cleared, programmed, and dedicated stones move the receiver's vibration into alignment with the planet and the universal grid. This results in a freeing of life force energy in the chakras and aura, a healing of the Body of Light, and a transformation of negative or dis-ease into health.

Work like you dont need the money,
love like youve never been hurt,
and dance like no one is watching.

Another Tribute To: Mevlâna Jalâluddîn Rumi - Fire

"Thinking gives off smoke to prove the existence of fire.

A mystic sits inside the burning.

There are wonderful shapes in rising smoke
that imagination loves to watch.

But it's a mistake to leave the fire for that filmy sight.

Stay here at the flame's core.

One Mind.

All Buddhas and all ordinary beings are nothing but the one mind. This mind is beginningless and endless, unborn and indestructible. It has no color or shape, neither exists nor doesn't exist, isn't old or new, long or short, large or small, since it transcends all measures, limits, names, and comparisons. It is what you see in front of you.

Start to think about it and immediately you are mistaken. It is like the boundless void, which can't be fathomed or measured. The one mind is the Buddha, and there is no distinction between Buddha and ordinary beings, except that ordinary beings are attached to forms and thus seek for Buddhahood outside themselves. By this very seeking they lose it, since they are using Buddha to seek for Buddha, using mind to seek for mind. Even if they continue for a million eons, they will never be able to find it. They don't know that all they have to do is put a stop to conceptual thinking, and the Buddha will appear before them, because this mind is the Buddha and the Buddha is all living beings. It is not any less for being manifested in ordinary things, nor any greater for being manifested in Buddhas.

From The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibran

From The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibran

Then said Almitra, "Speak to us of Love."

And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a stillness upon them.

And with a great voice he said:

When love beckons to you follow him,

Though his ways are hard and steep.

And when his wings enfold you yield to him,

Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

And when he speaks to you believe in him,

Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.

Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,

So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.

He threshes you to make you naked.

He sifts you to free you from your husks.

He grinds you to whiteness.

He kneads you until you are pliant;

And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.

All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.

But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure,

Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,

Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.

Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;

For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, I am in the heart of God."

And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself.

But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:

To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.

To know the pain of too much tenderness.

To be wounded by your own understanding of love;

And to bleed willingly and joyfully.

To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;

To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;

To return home at eventide with gratitude;

And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.
